🚨 NHS Strike Alert in South Wales! 🚨

Heads up, folks! Health visitors in Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taf are gearing up for a four-week strike from February 23 to March 20. Why? They’re saying “enough is enough” due to being stuck with a pay band that doesn’t match their qualifications and hard work.

Unite the union claims these dedicated professionals are losing out on £8,000 to £9,000 a year because they’re paid as band six instead of the band seven they deserve. The health board says they’ve reviewed the job roles and maintained the current pay band, but Unite isn’t buying it.
Sharon Graham from Unite labels it as a shameful move by the health board. After all, these workers are hitting the picket lines to get rightfully paid for their invaluable work supporting new mums and families.
Despite ongoing discussions since a 2024 dispute, the situation remains tense. The health board pledges to minimise patient disruption while standing its ground on the pay issue.
This isn’t just a local matter; Unite vows to push this campaign across all health boards, urging more staff to join their fight.
