**Peppa Pig Welcomes Baby Sister as Family Expands in Much-Loved Animated Series**
After more than 20 years of entertaining children across the globe, the Peppa Pig family has grown once again. The beloved animated series recently introduced a brand new character – Peppa’s baby sister – whose name and first images were officially unveiled to fans and media alike.
The joyous news was first hinted at in February, when the show’s creators revealed that Mummy Pig was expecting another child, much to the delight of viewers. Since its debut in 2004, Peppa Pig has chronicled the adventures of Peppa, along with Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, and her little brother George. The addition of a new family member marks a significant milestone in the show’s history.
The revelation of the baby’s name and first public photos took place during a segment on ITV’s Good Morning Britain. Presenter Richard Arnold broke the news live on air, sharing that the newborn is called Evie, named in honour of Mummy Pig’s Aunt Evie. Richard Arnold said, “Daddy Pig has just shared these pictures with me of Peppa’s brand-new baby sister Evie, named after Mummy Pig’s Aunt Evie. She was born at 5.34am this morning.”
The excitement surrounding the new arrival has been building for months. In April, the gender of the baby was revealed in a unique and public fashion, as the chimneys of Battersea Power Station were illuminated in pink during a special event, signalling that Mummy Pig would be welcoming a baby girl.
In anticipation of the significant changes within the Pig family, the animated show is organising a special hour-long event titled “Peppa Meets The Baby”. Slated for release on 30 May, this supersized episode will offer audiences not only their first glimpse of Evie but also ten music-filled stories as Peppa, George, and friends prepare to welcome the new sibling.
Evie is expected to become a regular character when she makes her series debut later in the autumn, offering fresh storylines and interactions for the show’s devoted audience. Her arrival is already being described by producers as a “new chapter” for Peppa Pig, with the potential to introduce new themes about sibling relationships and family life.
The milestone coincides with a wider celebration of Peppa Pig’s 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, a commemorative collection of Royal Mail stamps has been released, featuring Peppa, George, and other fan-favourite characters. Among the collection are images of Suzy Sheep, Danny Dog, Grandpa and Granny Pig, and the entire family celebrating together.
Since its inception by creators Neville Astley and Mark Baker at Astley Baker Davies, Peppa Pig has become a cultural phenomenon. The show, which originally aired on Channel 5’s Milkshake and Nick Jr., has since been translated into more than 40 languages and is broadcast in over 180 territories worldwide, cementing its status as one of the world’s most popular children’s programmes.
The franchise was acquired by Hasbro in 2019 as part of the company’s purchase of Entertainment One, and the brand continues to expand with both televised and merchandise offerings. The addition of Evie reflects the creators’ ongoing commitment to keeping the show fresh and relevant for its ever-growing fanbase.
Fans eager to catch the latest on Peppa and her family’s adventures can tune into Good Morning Britain, which airs weekdays from 6am on ITV, STV, and online platforms. Further updates and sneak peeks are expected as the series moves into its next exciting era, with the new sibling sure to spark renewed interest among long-time viewers and newcomers alike.
