Exciting news for Cardiff! Plans for what could become the tallest building in Wales have just moved closer to reality. A full planning application has been submitted for a jaw-dropping 50-storey skyscraper at Central Square. If all goes smoothly, construction could kick off in 2026, with completion by 2028.

The ambitious project, led by REAP 3 Limited (part of Bluecastle Capital), aims to transform Cardiff’s skyline with 528 brand-new flats. The new design promises to boost the city’s appeal with expanded public spaces and improved building performance. Currently, The Tower at Meridian Quay in Swansea holds the title for the tallest building in Wales, standing at 107m tall. But this new skyscraper is set to change the game, adding a fresh landmark to Cardiff’s ever-evolving cityscape.

Cardiff already has its fair share of towering achievements, with a recent topping out ceremony for a 30-storey block at Guildford Crescent, and approval for another 30-storey project at Harlech Court’s former site. However, this new 50-storey proposal is set to overshadow them all!
