📚 Exciting News! 🌍 Three students from Gaza have safely touched down in Northern Ireland, ready to embark on their educational journey. Thanks to coordinated efforts by local politicians, the Home Office, and Ulster University, these scholars received prestigious Salam scholarships and are set to study in the UK.
Caoimhe Archibald shared her delight at their arrival, emphasising the need for a warm welcome and ongoing support. A letter to the British Government’s foreign and home secretaries helped clear the path for these students, ensuring they could secure their places at university.
Foyle MP Colum Eastwood played a pivotal role in obtaining their visas, highlighting that despite the powerlessness many feel about the situation in Gaza, every small action counts. These students are determined to use their education to support their families and communities back home.
North Belfast MP John Finucane also contributed to facilitating the students’ journey. He calls on the community to offer a warm embrace to help them settle into their new environment.
