Chris Hoy has been left speechless after an incredible £2 million was raised for cancer charities at the first-ever Tour de 4 event in Glasgow! 🌟 More than 5,000 cyclists joined the six-time Olympic champ at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, making this fundraising ride an emotional and inspiring day.
Despite facing his own battle with stage-four prostate cancer, Chris led fellow athletes, friends, and family on a 56-mile journey to support causes close to his heart. Famous faces like Sir Andy Murray, Sir Ben Ainslie, Duncan Scott, Rebecca Adlington, Dame Sarah Storey, Mark Cavendish, and Jason Kenny came together to ride for a cause.
Reflecting on the overwhelming generosity, Chris shared, “I picked £1m as a target just because it seemed like a decent goal. Today, we’ve doubled that! Every single rider, fundraiser, and donor – you made it happen. THANK YOU.”
In a touching moment, Chris shared a photo with his wife, Sarra, who also cycled despite her own health challenges. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis around the same time as Chris’s cancer diagnosis, Sarra remarked, “With my health issues, I can’t believe I cycled 56 miles.
