Shocking news as two men have been sentenced for plotting a mass murder inspired by Islamic State ideologies. Walid Saadaoui, from Wigan, and Amar Hussein, of no fixed address, were convicted of preparing terrorist acts targeting the Jewish community in Manchester. Despite denying the charges, they were found guilty following a trial.

Between December 2023 and May 2024, the duo orchestrated plans that involved purchasing firearms, conducting reconnaissance, and preparing for a catastrophic attack. Walid Saadaoui’s brother, Bilel, was also found guilty of failing to report the terror plot to the authorities.

The plot, described as potentially the deadliest in UK history, was thankfully foiled by an undercover operative known as ‘Farouk’. On May 8, 2024, Saadaoui was ‘caught red-handed’ in a car park in Bolton, expecting to receive guns and ammunition. Instead, it was a sting operation that led to his immediate arrest.
The court had its final say, with Walid Saadaoui sentenced to 37 years, Amar Hussein to 26 years, and Bilel Saadaoui receiving a 6-year sentence. This case highlights the critical role of counter-terrorism efforts in keeping our communities safe. Keep informed about breaking news and ensure you know what’s happening around you!
