Lara Hall, a survivor of trafficking and abuse, spoke out about her traumatic experience with a former charity boss. She shared how the Commission’s inconsistent approach left her feeling “suicidal.” In another case, grooming victim Damian Murray felt “dismissed” and like a “nuisance” when he reached out about historical abuse at a religious school in the North-West. Both brave individuals have waived their anonymity to shed light on these injustices.

A damning report from the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) revealed shortcomings, urging the Commission to overhaul its risk assessments and communication strategies. MP involvement hopes to ensure these much-needed changes are carried out.

Shockingly, the Commission attempted to block these reports from reaching Parliament, challenging the Ombudsman’s roles. This has sparked concerns about accountability and transparency within the organisation.

The Commission apologised to both complainants and is working on improvements. However, the PHSO says they haven’t fully addressed the failures or followed through on vital recommendations.

Lara Hall demands accountability, stressing, “How can survivors feel safe reporting abuse if they think they will be treated like I have?” Damian echoes this, highlighting resistance from the Commission to address serious shortcomings over several years.

Let’s support brave survivors like Lara and Damian by demanding transparency and accountability from authorities responsible for safeguarding! Your thoughts? 💬 #CharityCommission #Accountability #SupportSurvivors
