Terrifying skies above Greece as a Boeing 757-300 operated by Condor Airlines erupts into flames, turning a routine flight into a living nightmare. Moments after take-off from Corfu, passengers watched in horror as the right engine blazed fiercely, spewing smoke and flames. Many onboard started sending frantic “goodbye” messages to loved ones, fearing the worst. The ordeal took an unexpected twist as the plane made a dramatic U-turn for an emergency landing in Brindisi, Italy. Some passengers even ended up sleeping on the terminal floor due to a shortage of hotel rooms nearby.
One traveller shockingly recounts, “I sent goodbye messages thinking it was over. It was a horrible experience.” Another describes hearing a “loud clicking noise” before spotting the fiery engine. Thankfully, Condor Airlines assures everyone that there was no real danger, attributing the issue to a “disturbance in air flow,” reportedly caused by a bird strike. They swiftly dispatched another aircraft to take the wearied passengers to their destination in Dusseldorf the following day.
Condor Airlines issued apologies for the discomfort, stating safety was never compromised. All 273 passengers and 8 crew members disembarked safely, albeit shaken.
