A shocking hit and run has left a man seriously injured after being struck by a car in the early hours on Somerton Road, Newport. The incident occurred at around 2.20am on Monday, 25th August.
A 32-year-old local resident is now in hospital, and a man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The car involved is believed to be a dark-coloured Volkswagen Golf, which fled the scene immediately after the collision.
