Amidst the chaos, Captain Earp landed the air ambulance at the scene. Realising the immediate danger posed by the out-of-control canine, he made the tough decision to step in. With all emergency services at risk and time running short, he borrowed a neighbouring farmer’s shotgun. After the first shot failed to subdue Ricoh, it took four shots to bring the situation under control.

In court, Lisa Grant, 56, pleaded guilty to owning a dangerously out-of-control dog. Despite the horrific event and sustaining serious injury herself, including enduring four surgeries, she received a suspended sentence and rehabilitation orders. As a consequence, she’s been banned from keeping animals indefinitely.

The judge commended Captain Earp, stating his firm and brave actions saved Mr Grant’s life and ensured necessary medical attention was provided. This harrowing episode highlights the sheer unpredictability of such situations and the heroism that can stem from decisive action.

For residents in Gwynedd, it’s a stark reminder of both the inherent danger of aggressive animals and the incredible people ready to act for the safety of others. Kudos to Captain Earp for his bravery and quick thinking! 🦸‍♂️💪
