A scary encounter in Cardiff! A police officer responding to an attempted burglary call ended up being bitten twice by a pocket bully dog named Lola. Phillip Williams, 54, alerted the police about the break-in at his Ely home, but things took a turn when Lola attacked PC Jessica Porter. The officer, feeling sharp pain in her legs, was left with two bite wounds and potential lifelong scars.

The incident happened around 3:45 am when PC Porter was allowed inside the home. Despite Williams’ efforts to control Lola, the excited dog couldn’t be calmed down. Williams later apologised, and the court heard that Lola’s anxiety was likely triggered by the disturbance at home.

But that’s not all for Williams. He also faced charges for wielding a knife in a separate incident. Surveillance caught him brandishing a blade and shouting at someone in the street. With 50 prior convictions under his belt, Williams found himself in hot water again.
In court, he pleaded guilty to owning a dangerously out-of-control dog and carrying a bladed article. The judge, however, decided against destroying Lola, citing her calm behaviour in kennels since the incident. Instead, Lola must now wear a muzzle, a flat nose collar, and be on a leash in public, not to be handled by anyone younger than 16.
Williams received suspended sentences for both offences and was given a 20-day rehabilitation activity order. As a recovering drug addict aiming for a fresh start, moving away from Ely seems like the next step for him. What a saga! Remember, responsible pet ownership and staying calm in stressful situations are key. Stay safe out there, folks! 🐶👮♀️📜
