Having admitted to defending himself with a punch, McClean expressed his frustrations over not getting much game-time recently, affecting his joy for football. At 36, he’s eyeing a new venture that excites him even more: the boxing ring. 🥊
He shared, “I’m in my workplace and I feel I should never feel threatened… I’ve channelled my frustration into the punch bag, and it feels great.” McClean, who often posts about his boxing training on Instagram, recently got a taste of the big fight atmosphere accompanying Irish boxer Michael Conlan in Dublin. The experience left him wanting more, with background talks already taking place for a potential match.
James McClean is passionate about boxing and said, “I want to experience what it’s like to be a boxer… I’ve done the ring walk for Mike Conlan, and it was unbelievable. I was thinking, imagine doing that where this is for you, and you’re going into the ring for a tear-up.”
With a bigger passion for boxing than football now, he might soon be swapping the pitch for the ring. This potential career switch is bound to keep sports fans excited. Who knows? We may see McClean taking on a new role and delivering knockout performances outside of football! 🥊⚽️
