Well, big plans are on the horizon: the site is set to be transformed into a cutting-edge data centre! New proposals have been submitted, calling for the demolition of all existing structures to make way for a facility dedicated to housing computer systems and servers. Spanning approximately 38.2 hectares, this project marks a significant shift from the site’s industrial roots to digital innovation.
The development aligns with planning Use Class B8, focusing on storage for digital infrastructure. Plans include everything from new substation installations to internal roads and even dedicated cycle routes to ensure easy access. Plus, all asbestos-containing materials from the old buildings will be safely removed and properly disposed of.
