Fresh Fruit & Veg Scheme Fuels Classroom Success! 🍎🥕

Thousands of UK pupils are swapping crisps for carrots thanks to Tesco’s Fruit & Veg for Schools programme, making a huge impact in and out of the classroom. Over 10.8 million portions of fruit and veg were gobbled up in the past year alone, significantly boosting pupils’ nutrition. With Vitamin C intake going up by 7.4%, kids are thriving!

And it’s not just about filling hungry tummies! A staggering 94% of teachers have noticed a positive change in behaviour, with kids showing sharper focus and more energy. As schools across the nation take part, this initiative is shaking up classrooms, ensuring that even the most vulnerable pupils get the healthy start they deserve.
In South Tyneside, Boldon School has been crowned the ‘Ultimate Munchers’, munching through nearly 15,000 pieces of fruit and veg! Over in Manchester, the kids at Park View Community Academy have become the ‘Avocado Aficionados’, eating 10 times the average amount of this creamy delight.
West Heath Primary in Birmingham is leading the way as the ‘Carrot Crusaders’, consuming an impressive 14 times the average amount. Crunching veggies never looked so cool!
With more than 500 schools now involved, Tesco, alongside the British Nutrition Foundation, is spreading healthy eating habits far and wide. It’s not just about eating right; pupils are trying new foods like blueberries, asparagus, and more – proving it’s never too early to start an adventure in eating!
Teachers overwhelmingly support the programme, with 96% saying that well-fed kids are more eager to learn. This fruity revolution is turning mealtimes into moments of discovery and growth.
As communities come together for a healthier future, we can’t wait to see how this vibrant initiative continues to shape the next generation. 🥦🍇
