๐โจ Missed the Blood Moon? Here’s What You Need to Know! โจ๐

Sunday night was a stellar occasion as parts of the UK witnessed a breathtaking total lunar eclipse, famously known as a “blood moon.” For all the sky-watchers out there, it was the first time since 2022 that the moon put on this dazzling red display.

๐ What Happened?
As the Earth positioned itself directly between the Sun and the Moon, our planet’s shadow gave the lunar surface a deep, dark red hue. This happened because the Earth’s atmosphere filters the sunlight, scattering blue light and allowing the red wavelengths to paint the moon with its otherworldly glow.
๐ When Could You See It?
If you were lucky to have clear skies on Sunday around 7.30pm, this celestial spectacle was perfectly visible to the naked eye. Unlike solar eclipses, there was no need for protective eyewear โ the moon’s reflected light is gentle enough on the eyes.
๐ญ Whatโs Next?
If you missed it, don’t worry. The Royal Observatory Greenwich says we wonโt have another partial lunar eclipse until August 2026, so mark your calendars for the next cosmic event!
