Renovation Commences on Historic Welsh Nightclub with Kickoff of Demolition Phase

Big changes are happening at Cardiff’s iconic Clwb Ifor Bach! The legendary nightclub on Womanby Street is getting a significant upgrade with demolition work already underway. Opening its doors in 1983 as a Welsh-language social club, it has become a vital part of Wales’ music scene, hosting names like Stereophonics, Coldplay, and Super Furry Animals early in their careers.

The venue is expanding into the building next door to create a brand-new, fully accessible multi-room space. Expect a larger 500-capacity performance area, a 200-capacity room for emerging artists, new dressing rooms, green room, and a top-floor bar. Cardiff Council greenlit these exciting plans two years ago, and we’re thrilled to see them taking shape at last.
