๐ **Daring Rescue in Porthcawl!** ๐ค

This weekend, two adventurous teens found themselves in a tight spot on the Porthcawl coast! As the tide rolled in around a rocky outcrop, they were soon surrounded by the chilly sea waters with nowhere to go. Sounds like a scene straight out of an action film, right?

Thanks to the quick-thinking Porthcawl RNLI team, the duo was safely brought back to shore. Responding swiftly to the 999 alert, the RNLI launched their trusty D class lifeboat, Hugo Missen. The video of the rescue shows the teens standing on a small rock, soaked but otherwise okay. ๐งก
The sea can be unpredictable, especially with one of the world’s largest tidal ranges. With high tide approaching fast, time was ticking for the lifeboat crew. Chris Page from the Porthcawl Lifeboat Team emphasised the urgency: “Time was really of the essence.”
Luckily, the RNLI volunteers were on the case! One brave crew member hopped onto the rock, providing lifejackets and comfort to the stranded duo before guiding them safely onto the boat. Besides a couple of grazes, the teens were unharmed and received minor first aid from the coastguard teams on shore.
With summer waves and unpredictable currents, it’s a reminder to check tide times and stay informed when exploring the beautiful coastlines. ๐ Tirion Dowsett from the RNLI highlighted: “Taking just a few simple steps to ensure you stay safe means everyone can return home with fond memories.”
Remember, if you find yourself in water trouble, the “Float to Live” technique could be a lifesaver: tilt your head back, keep your ears submerged, and try to relax until help arrives. And always shout for help if you see someone in distress, dialling 999 for the coastguard can make all the difference!
Stay safe and enjoy the seaside responsibly! ๐๏ธ
