🚗 Parking Trouble in Blaenavon! 🚗 Residents are buzzing with frustration after the council rejected a call to paint proper parking bays in the town’s car parks. Why? According to Councillor Mandy Owen, marking out spaces could reduce parking spots as they’d need to fit national standards. It might also mean work vans and commercial vehicles couldn’t park, pushing more cars onto the streets. 🚙💨

Right now, Blaenavon car parks have no traffic regulation orders, so cars can park a bit chaotically without facing fines. But this freedom comes with its own set of hassles. Cllr Owen explained that because parking is free, there’s no budget for maintenance and enforcement, making any potential changes tricky. 🛠️

Local councillor Nick Horler hasn’t given up, though. He’s urging the council to consider residents’ parking permits and suggested some council-owned sites as possible parking areas. Meanwhile, the council is waiting on guidance from the Welsh Government about residents’ parking solutions. 🏢🔍
