Tennis great Sir Andy Murray is diving into new adventures post-retirement. After hanging up his tennis racket following the 2024 Olympics, Andy has been busy trying his hand at sports like cricket! 🎯
Recently, in a fun challenge with England cricket legend Kevin Pietersen, Andy tested his batting skills against speeding balls. Starting at 50mph, the task was simple: hit the ball. With each successful hit, the speed increased. Andy, known for his incredible hand-eye coordination on the tennis court, showed determination despite the challenges.
By the time the speed reached 79mph, Andy had lost two lives (and one bat, thrown in frustration!). With a final ball knocking into the stumps at 79mph, Andy didn’t quite hit the elusive 80mph mark, to the amusement of Pietersen. “He wanted 80mph, he never got 80!” chuckled Pietersen.
Though a little disappointed, Andy still had a blast and took it all in stride, saying, “I’m disappointed I didn’t get there but I did alright.”
Alongside his cricket escapades, Andy has been active on YouTube, appearing on various channels, and completed a theatre tour titled ‘Centre Stage’, sharing stories from his illustrious tennis career.
Although he passed on working at Wimbledon in 2025, Andy remains a beloved figure, ready to support his kids or cheer for British players. 🎉
The YouTube channel where the challenge was posted, launched just a month ago, has already attracted over 263,000 subscribers, further showcasing the entertainment of sport beyond traditional fields!
