Peter Schofield, the DWP’s permanent secretary, highlights their new campaign: “Tell Us Too.” When your life changes, whether it’s a shift in health or finances, you might tell a mate, but also tell the DWP. It’s about making sure you’re getting what you should.
Exciting news – they’re working on creating a ‘customer account’ system that will combine all your DWP benefits in one spot. Imagine making one change on your account and having it reflected across all your benefits.
For those on PIP, pay special attention! If your health condition has worsened, you might be eligible for a “higher premium.” Remember, PIP assists with costs tied to long-term health conditions, and it’s not means-tested, meaning your income and savings won’t impact your eligibility.
Current PIP weekly rates are:
– Daily Living Component: Lower – £73.90 / Higher – £110.40
– Mobility Component: Lower – £29.20 / Higher – £77.05
Your eligibility for each part is assessed separately, so it’s worth checking if you qualify for a higher amount. This could significantly boost your monthly income.
