Incredibly sad news from the rugby world as we say goodbye to a talented young player who left us far too soon. Adam Hegarty, a rising star from City of Armagh RFC, passed away suddenly on Saturday night, just hours after scoring a try in a match against Dungannon. His heartwarming performance on the field will be remembered, but it’s his sportsmanship and character off the pitch that left a lasting impact.

City of Armagh Rugby Club cherished Adam as a “true gentleman” who rose through their ranks with pride. They shared their sorrow, saying, “Adam was highly respected and will be greatly missed by our entire community.” Fellow clubs, including Dungannon and Portadown, echoed these sentiments, reaching out with support and condolences during this tough time.

Dungannon Football Club expressed their deepest sympathies, noting that their thoughts and prayers are with everyone at City of Armagh RFC. Portadown Rugby Club added, “Rugby brings rivals on the field, but it unites us as one family off it. Today, we stand with you in grief and solidarity.” Adam’s former club, Newry Rugby Club, also paid tribute to the talented player they knew in his younger years.

Adam’s legacy as a beloved teammate and talented rugby player will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Our thoughts are with Adam’s family, friends, and the entire Armagh rugby community as they navigate this profoundly difficult time. Rest in peace, Adam.
