🌟 Big News from Welsh Rugby! 🌟

Johnny Williams, the Scarlets centre, almost stepped away from the Welsh rugby scene after being overlooked for nearly two years under Warren Gatland. Despite consistent performances for his club, Williams was on the international sidelines. But this summer, he made a triumphant return to the Wales squad under the new guidance of Matt Sherratt for the Japan tour!

Talking about his challenging journey, Williams revealed the inner conflict he faced when considering leaving Wales, “My dream has always been to play in front of 74,000 fans at the Principality Stadium. I was left out for quite a while, but I thought I’d give it one more shot—and I’m so glad I did!”
During his time away from international duty, Williams worked tirelessly on his game, refining his skills while staying true to his strengths. His dedication paid off, and he’s confident that with the new coaching team headed by Steve Tandy, Welsh rugby is on the up. “Steve and I haven’t worked together yet, but I’ve heard fantastic things. It’s exciting times with a young group looking to climb the world rankings.”
As part of an impressive Scarlets backline with names like Joe Hawkins and Sam Costelow, Williams believes they have the potential to make a mark. “We’ve got an international backline. If we can produce, let’s not shy away and show everyone what we’ve got!”
The Scarlets might have had a tough start with a home defeat to Munster, but the spirit and talent in the squad give fans hope for an exciting season ahead. “Other teams are talking about us, and they should be. We know what we’re capable of.”
