🏉 From Rugby Dreams to Westeros: Peter Claffey’s Unlikely Journey! 🎬

Peter Claffey, the new face of HBO’s “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” once dreamt of rugby glory before becoming Ser Duncan the Tall. Standing tall at 6ft 5in, Claffey had high hopes on the rugby field with Connacht and even played for Ireland’s Under-20s back in the 2016 Six Nations. But life had other plans.

After facing the harsh reality of not making the first team at Connacht, Peter was left battling feelings of isolation. “It was probably the most isolating, lonely year I’ve ever had,” he shared. But there was a silver lining—his passion for performing took centre stage as he turned to sketch comedy and acting.

Trading rugby boots for scripts, he joined Dublin’s Bow Street Academy and soon graced the stage at the Abbey Theatre. Small roles in shows like “Bad Sisters” and “Small Things Like These” followed, but it was landing the role in the Game of Thrones universe that shot him to stardom.
Despite the thrilling journey to achieving his dream role, it wasn’t without its challenges. The audition process was intense, and the stress took a toll on Peter’s health. “It was a f***ing rollercoaster,” he admitted. But today, he’s embraced his role and is thriving.
From tackling rugby goals to navigating the challenges of Westeros, Peter Claffey’s story is a testament to resilience and pursuing passions. Who knew the path from a rugby pitch could lead to the throne? đź’ŞđźŽ
