Rugby fans, you won’t believe what Joe Marler has said now! The former England prop has stirred the pot by declaring that Welsh legend Alun Wyn Jones is “massively overrated”. Marler, known for being outspoken, didn’t hold back while picking his all-time Six Nations team with his former teammate, Danny Care. He scoffed at the idea of including Jones, saying, “He’s unbelievable. He had one year,” and opted for Lions captains Maro Itoje and Paul O’Connell instead.

Marler is no stranger to controversy with Jones. Remember when he was banned for 10 weeks after that infamous incident in 2020 when he was caught on camera grabbing Jones’ genitals during a Six Nations match? The rugby world was outraged, with Jones himself calling for appropriate action, despite describing Marler as a “good bloke”.

But Marler’s critique didn’t stop with Jones. He also labelled Ireland’s Johnny Sexton as “garbage” and claimed France’s Thomas Ramos is “such a helmet on the pitch”. Even Welsh stars like Gareth Davies and George North faced his scrutiny, though North got a nod in Marler’s ultimate XV.

Despite the jabs at Jones, there was admiration too. Marler included three Welsh forwards in his dream team, praising giants like Richard Hibbard and Adam Jones. And when it came to the back row, he didn’t hesitate to select Justin Tipuric over Sam Warburton, declaring him one of the “most skilled” players.
Rugby is all about rivalry and respect, and Marler’s bold statements are sure to spark debate among fans. Is Marler right, or does Jones deserve his legendary status? Let us know what you think in the comments! 🏉🔥
