🎄🌐🎅 Imagine having no internet or TV during the festive season! That’s the reality for the residents of Llanelidan, a charming Welsh village tucked between Ruthin and Corwen. Since December 6, after a storm brought down a pole, the village has been cut off from the digital world, leaving residents frustrated and their holidays less merry.
💬 Howard Parry, a local, shared his plight: “No internet since early December. Apparently, a pole and cable collapsed, cutting us off from everything.” While he’s managing, his wife’s favourite shows have turned into missed opportunities, throwing a damper on their Christmas cheer.
📞 With phone lines down too, contacting providers seems like a never-ending struggle. “I was so cheesed off I got my daughter to email our MP, Becky Gittins,” Howard said. Yet, progress remains slow as Openreach faces land access issues, and communication with service providers hits roadblocks.
😠 Councillor Hugh Evans reflects the sentiment: “It’s ironic that technology meant to improve communication leaves us stranded with no clear answers.”
🚧 Openreach acknowledged the fault, citing complications due to the pole’s tricky location, and apologised for the frustration caused.
🤔 So, how many locals are living this digital nightmare? Attempts to get answers from Openreach and EE have come up short. Meanwhile, Denbighshire County Council clarified they’re not responsible for these issues.
