Shocking News from Barmouth: Seagull Kicked to Death Over Fish and Chips

An afternoon turned tragic on Marine Parade in Barmouth when a seagull met a grim fate after snagging a fish from someone’s plate outside a chippy. At around 1pm on August 4, witnesses saw a man kick the gull, causing it to collide with a parked car and sadly die.

The RSPCA is on the case, seeking any information to identify the person responsible for this distressing event. According to reports, the suspect is about 5’10”, with curly hair, a medium build, and was last seen in a black jacket. If you have any details, please call the RSPCA’s appeals line at 0300 123 8018, quoting reference 01596699.

RSPCA animal rescue officer Julia Dalgleish expressed how heartbreaking this incident is, especially since gulls, often misunderstood, are actually quite intelligent and social creatures. All gulls and their nests are protected by law, making such acts not only cruel but illegal under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
This incident is a grim reminder of the urgent need for kindness and respect towards wildlife. If you witnessed the event or know anything about it, your help is needed to bring justice for this unfortunate bird. Let’s come together as a community to protect and respect all creatures, no matter how small or misunderstood. Please share this post and spread the word!
And on another sad note, RSPCA is also looking into another shocking discovery of dozens of deceased pigeons in Newbridge. The dead birds were found in a bin bag in Bridge Street, adding to the urgent need for awareness and action against animal cruelty.
