πποΈ Burnham-on-Sea: Britain’s ‘Worst’ Seaside Town? πποΈ

Once a picturesque gem, Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset now faces a tide of troubles, leaving locals and visitors alike disappointed. According to a survey by Which?, this seaside town scored a lowly 49% for accommodation and value for money. π¬
But whatβs got people really talking? The beach’s murky brown water, poor sea quality, and the not-so-charming view of a nuclear power plant. And it doesnβt stop there β the growing issue of dog mess on the streets has residents fed up with irresponsible pet owners. Despite bright orange spray paint highlighting the mess, the problem persists. πΆπ©

One local sums it up: “Why not just bag it up? It makes more sense than spray painting!”
The town’s allure seems to be fading, with an increase in crime adding to the decline. Yet, in spite of these setbacks, there’s a call for improvements. Enhanced safety measures like more beach lifeguards have become crucial, especially after the tragic incident where a 68-year-old lost his life trying to save a woman and her dog. π
While Somerset Council is doing its bit by emptying dog bins daily and patrolling for rogue pet owners, there’s a demand for more action to preserve what once made Burnham-on-Sea a must-visit destination.
