🔥 Heatwaves are sparking serious wildfire threats in the UK! As Wales basks in its fourth heatwave this year, temperatures are soaring up to 29°C in Cardiff, Monmouth, and more. But those blue skies might be fading thanks to smoke from massive wildfires in Spain and Portugal drifting our way. Expect the sky to paint a picture with stunning reds and oranges during sunsets and sunrises due to light scattering along with Saharan dust.
🚒 Firefighters are on high alert with resources stretched thin. Crews from South Wales have been sent over 100 miles away to Dorset to help tackle the enormous blaze at Holt Heath, which burned for six days. Ron Selby from the Fire Brigades Union stresses that years of austerity cuts have left our fire services struggling. With one in five firefighter posts gone and stations closing nationwide, handling these intensive wildfires has become a massive challenge.
