A thrilling speedboat trip in Llandudno Bay turned into a nightmare for a woman in her 70s. During her coastal adventure, she sustained a severe back injury, leaving her unable to move from her seat and enduring excruciating pain.

Quick to the scene, the local lifeboat crew and coastguard teams from Llandudno, Penmon, and Bangor sprang into action. Equipped with a basket stretcher and vital medical supplies, the lifeboat crew arrived at the speedboat, now docked at North Shore jetty. Recognising the seriousness of her condition, they provided pain relief to make the situation a bit more bearable for her.

With no ambulance in sight for hours, the teams made the call to move the injured woman to the nearby Merrion Hotel. There, the hotel staff prepared a comfortable spot in their reception area, allowing the rescue teams to continue caring for her until medical personnel could take over.
The incident happened just after midday on Friday, 5th September, but it wasn’t until later in the day that an ambulance finally arrived. A spokesperson from Llandudno Coastguard assured everyone that they closely monitored her condition throughout and continued to provide pain relief until help arrived.
Our thoughts go out to this brave woman during her recovery. If you’re planning any adventurous outings, always remember to prioritise safety! 🌊🚤❗
