๐โจ Shaken, Not Stirred! An Earthquake Hits Wales! โจ๐

On Tuesday evening, an unexpected tremor rolled through the scenic Llลทn Peninsula in Gwynedd. The earth took a gentle rumble at 9:24 pm, registering a 1.6 on the Richter scale. Though a minor quake, it was felt far and wide, causing quite the chatter from Cwm-y-glo to Waunfawr!

Locals in the quaint hamlet of Llwyndyrus reported their homes creaking and some even mistook the rumble for a sonic boom! “Other half went outside to check,” shared a Criccieth resident on social media. While Wales has a history of shaking things up a bit โ remember the 5.4 magnitude quake in 1984? โ this one was much gentler.
With over 300 quakes in the area since 1970, the Llลทn Peninsula is no stranger to seismic activity. This latest rumble adds to Wales’ well-shaken history, with recent quakes noted in Powys and a little ripple out at sea near Anglesey.
While these minor jolts are a thrilling reminder of our planet’s dynamic nature, they’re thankfully harmless and part of life in this beautiful part of the world. Have you got quake tales of your own? Share them below! ๐ก๐ฌ
