A tale of sibling dreams hits a snag as four sisters have plans to build ‘affordable’ homes together in Cardigan turned down once again! Celyn, Sara, Carys, and Mandy had high hopes for bungalows that would bring them closer, quite literally, but it seems council planners have other ideas.

The council has rejected their latest proposal, citing concerns about the scale, size, and location of the £400k homes in the open countryside. Despite scaling down their initial plans after a previous rejection, the family faces design and policy hurdles.

Planning chief Russell Hughes-Pickering highlighted that while there’s support for such family-oriented homes, the placement and design could potentially breach local planning guidelines. Concern over landscape impacts and density requirements were among the key reasons for refusal.
Yet, it’s not all doom and gloom! Encouraged to tweak and re-submit their plans, the sisters may just find a path to their shared dream. With some adjustments, their vision of living side by side could still materialise.
What do you think? Should the council give them a chance, or are the planners right in sticking to their rules? Share your thoughts! 🌿🔨🏡
