Alison Moyet has assured fans that she’s safe after getting caught in a massive wildfire while on holiday in France. The singer, fondly remembered as a member of the iconic synth-pop duo Yazoo with Vince Clarke, shared her experience on social media. Posting dramatic photos of the blaze from her room, Alison initially expressed concerns about figuring out how to leave the area safely.
Fortunately, everything turned out well. Alison updated followers with a heartfelt message saying, “All for us ended well. Thank you. Away from the fire now though the smell pervades the air everywhere.” She also expressed her sympathy for the locals affected by the devastation.
This horrifying wildfire has stretched across regions larger than Paris and tragically claimed one life. Alison, originally from Essex, launched her career in punk bands before hitting it big with Yazoo. The group gave us timeless hits like “Don’t Go” and “Only You”. Post-Yazoo, she embarked on a successful solo journey, releasing her chart-topping debut album “Alf” and bagging a Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist in 1985. In 2021, she was honoured with an MBE for her contributions to music. With over 23 million records sold globally, Alison’s latest album, “Key”, came out last year.
