Imagine sipping your morning coffee and catching a fireball meteor blazing across the sky! That’s exactly what happened to Ed Williams, a stargazing enthusiast from Wrexham. On a regular Sunday morning, Ed spotted something extraordinary out of his landing window—a bright fiery streak that wasn’t your typical plane trail. 🚀

At first, Ed thought it might be an aircraft, but his keen astronomer instincts quickly kicked in. Realising it was a rare fireball meteor, he was over the moon! “I’ve seen lots of shooting stars and satellites, but not one of these,” he shared, dubbing the moment as “unforgettable” and a true privilege.

These brilliant fireballs are not your everyday shooting stars. They’re caused by larger bits of space rock entering Earth’s atmosphere at high speeds, creating spectacular streaks of light—and sometimes even explosions or shockwaves. If you’re really lucky, fragments might even make it to the ground as meteorites! 🌌

And the cosmic excitement doesn’t stop there! If you’re into stargazing, prepare for more celestial wonders this January. The Quadrantid meteor shower is lighting up the sky until January 12. For the best viewing experience, find a dark spot, bundle up, and look towards Boötes. Plus, on January 10, don’t miss Jupiter shining its brightest as it reaches opposition—perfect for those with binoculars or telescopes! 🔭

Whether you’re an astronomy aficionado or just love looking up at the night sky, it’s a thrilling time to gaze at the stars. Who knows, maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of something extraordinary too! 🌠✨
