Tough night for Wales as they succumb to a 4-2 defeat against Belgium at Cardiff City Stadium. The loss puts a significant dent in our World Cup qualification hopes. Joe Rodon gave us an early lead with a fantastic header, but a Kevin De Bruyne penalty levelled things before Thomas Meunier put Belgium ahead. De Bruyne struck again from the spot in the second half, and despite Nathan Broadhead’s late goal giving a glimmer of hope, Trossard sealed the win for Belgium, propelling them to the top of Group J.

Player ratings saw Sorba Thomas as our standout star with a solid performance on the left, creating multiple chances and delivering a sublime corner for our opener. Karl Darlow managed a couple of decent saves, while Ben Davies, marking his 100th cap, was busy tackling yet was often outpaced by Belgium’s dynamic duo Doku and co. On a challenging evening, players like Ethan Ampadu faced harsh penalty calls and struggled against a relentless Belgian side.

Despite the loss, there were moments of promise. David Brooks showed plenty of energy, though decision-making was a recurring issue. As for the substitutes, Nathan Broadhead’s goal was a noteworthy highlight, while others, like Brennan Johnson and Jay Dasvila, had little impact.
