🚨 Heartbreaking Reality: Over 5,000 Homeless Children in Ireland 🚨

In a grim milestone, Ireland now has more than 5,000 homeless children living in emergency accommodations. Alarming stats from the Department of Housing show a total of 16,058 people without a permanent home. Among them are 5,014 children and 2,343 families, marking one of the darkest days for the nation.

Opposition politicians are warning that these children might be the next “institutional abuse scandal” if urgent action isn’t taken. Rory Hearne from the Social Democrats highlights how these children are hidden in statistics, living in conditions that feel like imprisonment.
Imagine not being able to parent your child properly because you’re stuck in cramped, unsuitable emergency housing. This isn’t just numbers—it’s families going to bed in tears, children growing up in distress, and parents fighting to keep their kids fed.
Ber Grogan from Simon Communities of Ireland raises concerns over the state’s treatment of single parents, often the heads of these struggling families. Families are being punished by soaring rents and lack of support, pushing them further into despair.
Labour TD Conor Sheehan and People Before Profit TD Paul Murphy are demanding action, labelling the situation a national shame. Families are living in crowded hotel rooms, unable to cook or even wash their clothes, often relying on school breakfast clubs for meals.
As a society, we can’t let this become normal. We have to demand better for these children growing up in such dire conditions. Emergency accommodation should never be a long-term solution.
Let’s raise our voices and push for change! Every child deserves a secure home and a hopeful future. 🌟🏡
