A holiday nightmare unfolded for Rebecca McCurry, 22, when her trip to Marrakesh turned into a grueling ordeal over a forgotten passport. After landing, Rebecca realised she had left her passport on the plane seat but was denied re-entry to retrieve it. Despite reporting it within minutes, Ryanair staff allegedly couldn’t find it during their sweep.

Stranded without her passport, Rebecca was subjected to hours of questioning by border police, and her chronic pain condition only added to the distress, causing her to faint multiple times. The intimidation continued as officials laughed at her and suggested she might have to wait up to five days for a deportation flight, all while the plane she arrived on was still on the runway!
Rebecca recounted how she was left in a fast-food restaurant, unable to eat due to being a vegetarian, while waiting for her fate to be decided. After a stressful 11 hours, she claimed a bluff about contacting an immigration lawyer got her on a flight back to Manchester.

Her passport was eventually located by friends on the return flight, exactly where she left it. It took a month of persistence to get it back from Ryanair, and her attempts to lodge a formal complaint have reportedly led nowhere.
Rebecca’s ordeal highlights the importance of keeping essential documents secure at all times. While Ryanair states that passengers are responsible for their travel documents, this incident serves as a cautionary tale. Have you ever faced passport troubles while travelling?
