Currently, about 5% of all UK public chargepoints are found at supermarkets, with 1,876 stores offering this service. That’s 14% of all supermarkets, even including those without a car park.

RAC’s Simon Williams shared that the myth about insufficient public charging is being busted thanks to supermarkets leading the charge. If retail chains continue this trend, we’re likely to see more drivers switching to electric.

Melanie Shufflebotham from Zapmap is thrilled too. She emphasises the commercial sense for supermarkets to cater to EV users, since it positively impacts traffic and shopping times. Plus, charging when you can rather than when you need to just makes life easier.

The Department for Transport is also on board, ensuring going electric is affordable and convenient, whether you’re at home, work, or on the go.

Looking for a quick power-up while you shop? Keep an eye out for more electrical charging stations popping up at your local supermarket. The future of motoring is bright and electric! 🔌✨
