According to new research, the number of charging stations at supermarkets has rocketed by 34% since early last year. Now, with 1,001 new chargepoints set up in 260 locations, the total has hit nearly 4,000!
And here’s the best part – almost 60% of these spots offer rapid or ultra-rapid charging. Perfect for those who want to power up quickly while grabbing groceries!
Currently, about 5% of all UK public chargepoints are found at supermarkets, with 1,876 stores offering this service. That’s 14% of all supermarkets, even including those without a car park.
RAC’s Simon Williams shared that the myth about insufficient public charging is being busted thanks to supermarkets leading the charge. If retail chains continue this trend, we’re likely to see more drivers switching to electric.
