A shocking case from Swansea Crown Court has resulted in a 10-year prison sentence for Luckman Oyofo, convicted of raping a teenage girl. The 48-year-old met the teen in Swansea city centre last December, plying her with vodka before coercing her and a friend back to his flat under the guise of calling a taxi. Once there, he heinously assaulted and raped her while her friend was incapacitated by alcohol.

The court heard a powerful statement from the brave victim, describing the profound impact on her life, including anxiety and nightmares. She expressed fear that no one would believe her, emphasising that Oyofo displayed no remorse throughout the ordeal.
Judge Catherine Richards highlighted Oyofo’s “ulterior motive” in supplying the teen with alcohol, criticising his actions during a vulnerable period of the victim’s life when she was exploring adulthood and experimenting with drinking. Despite Oyofo’s barrister suggesting his actions were “reckless,” the judge and jury heard otherwise.
