🏊♂️🚴♂️🏃♀️ Ironman Wales is back and Tenby is buzzing! Thousands of athletes are descending upon this picturesque Welsh town for one of the toughest endurance challenges around. Kicking off on North Beach, the athletes will brave a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a gruelling 112-mile bike ride through the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and then cap it all off with a 26.2-mile marathon run that winds through Tenby’s charming medieval streets.

Dubbed “Iron Town,” Tenby is the place to be today. The support from local fans is just as famous as the race itself, with past events seeing athletes and spectators come together for a stirring rendition of “Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau” on the beach.

Look out for Welsh rugby legend Shane Williams among the competitors, who says this is the closest he gets to reliving those thrilling international matches in his new post-rugby life. But the day isn’t without its hiccups—a sewage alert has been issued for North Beach, and a former champion, Nikki Bartlett, announced she had to pull out due to illness.

Despite these setbacks, the excitement in the air is palpable, and this spectacle promises to be as breathtaking as it is challenging. Good luck to all the brave competitors tackling the 140.6-mile triathlon today! 💪✨ #IronmanWales #TenbyTakeover #TriathlonChallenge
