But here’s some good news: you can make a massive difference with just £2 at Tesco! They’ve kickstarted their 13th annual Winter Food Collection, teaming up with Trussell and FareShare to fill those empty tummies.
Last year, kind-hearted shoppers donated food for 1.9 million meals, and with FareShare gearing up to dish out over 40 million meals, every tin and every penny counts. Tesco’s pre-packed donation bags, priced between £2 and £4, are a simple way to contribute. Grab one, pay at checkout, and your donation’s off to help those battling food poverty.
Tesco’s been a backbone of support, working all year to donate surplus food through its Community Food Connection programme. Incredible right? Since 2012, over 300 million meals have been provided!
Local projects like the Blackburn and Darwen Youth Awareness Project and DENS Foodbank have shared how Tesco’s collections ensure they can support struggling families, sheltering kids, and those recently out of homelessness. The extra food means they can extend a warm welcome and offer essentials during the cold months.
