The latest incident? A hefty fine was handed out at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court after Tesla didn’t respond to a police notice regarding a car speeding at 80mph on the M4 near Groes-faen, Wales. Tesla, which is listed as the registered keeper, didn’t identify the driver. 😲

According to court papers, Becky Hodgson, a Tesla company director, admitted the offence on behalf of the firm. She claimed they tried to submit a plea online but ran into technical issues, insisting they had indeed mailed a response to the police. 📩 However, this isn’t Tesla’s first rodeo. At least 18 convictions have been recorded since 2024, involving a whopping £20,686 in fines and costs! Various police forces including the Metropolitan Police, Hampshire Constabulary, and Thames Valley Police have all taken action. 🚔

In a previous case, a Tesla was caught speeding at nearly 100mph in Hampshire, but again, due to unanswered police letters, the driver wasn’t identified. It seems unanswered letters have become a theme, addressed to Tesla’s offices in Hammersmith, West Drayton, and Manchester. 📬

In recent weeks, almost 4,000 similar cases of failing to identify drivers have popped up across England and Wales, with fines ranging between £1 to £1,000. This ongoing saga highlights the importance of communication between companies and law enforcement. Let’s see how Tesla responds next! 🔍
