Jenny Shaw from Busy Bees, an early years childcare provider, explains how these curious questions are key to learning about the world. Their new programme, Bee Curious, uses playful techniques to inspire a love of learning in children by fostering this natural curiosity. Encouraging these questions isn’t just about finding answers but builds a foundation for communication, language, and problem-solving skills.
Interestingly, 57% of parents think their little ones’ non-stop questions stem from everything being new and exciting, while others believe it’s all about starting a conversation or gaining some comfort in an overwhelming world. The results show nearly every parent (99%) agrees that nurturing a child’s curiosity is crucial.
In turn, these inquisitive conversations help parents learn too! A staggering 86% have discovered something new thanks to their child’s probing questions, and 78% say a single question has changed their perspective on life. Whether it’s asking, “Can I be older than you one day?”, or “Why do bananas curve?”, each question opens a doorway to understanding the world a bit better.
