Early in the hours, Sue collapsed in their hotel bathroom, and James found her unconscious. Acting fast, he put her in the recovery position and called emergency services. At the hospital, Sue was put on a ventilator, and although there was no internal bleeding, she suffered small fractures and her health remains critical. After weeks in a coma, she is battling a lung infection, and her kidneys have begun to fail.

James believes it may have been heat stroke mixed with dehydration that led to the ordeal. As Sue fights to recover, James faces financial strain, spending roughly €1,000 a week on accommodation and additional costs. Though Sue’s treatment is covered under the NHS, James’ own expenses to stay by her side are not.
