**Major Cardiff Road Closures Announced Ahead of Oasis Reunion Gigs at Principality Stadium**

Cardiff city centre is preparing for a significant influx of music fans as Oasis takes to the stage at Principality Stadium this weekend, marking their first live performance together in 16 years. The historic Oasis Live ’25 shows are scheduled for this Friday, 4th July, and Saturday, 5th July, promising not only a nostalgic musical spectacle, but also widespread transport and road disruptions in central Cardiff.

Local authorities have confirmed extensive road closures throughout the city in anticipation of large crowds and heavy traffic. The closures are set to begin at 12 noon on both concert days, with restricted access remaining in place until midnight, covering much of the area surrounding the stadium. These measures are being introduced to ensure the safety of concert-goers and the efficient handling of the large-scale event.

Advance preparation on the day of each event will see Scott Road and Park Street closed from 7am, allowing the stadium to ready its gates and provide ample space for fans queuing early. The principal closures will take effect from midday, and will affect some of the city’s busiest routes in the vicinity of the venue.
Among the key roads to be shut are Kingsway, from its intersection with North Road to Duke Street, and Cowbridge Road East, spanning between Cathedral Road and Westgate Street. Additional closures include Tudor Street (from Clare Road to Wood Street), though residents and local traders will be granted access via Fitzhammon Embankment. Furthermore, Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street will be off-limits from Despenser Place to Tudor Street, again with resident access carefully managed.
A comprehensive list of fully closed roads has been published, detailing Duke Street, Castle Street, High Street, St Mary Street, Caroline Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road. These thoroughfares constitute the core of the city centre and are expected to remain heavily policed throughout the day to manage crowds and traffic flow.
In addition, special provision is being made for bus routes. Station Terrace and Guildford Street will be dedicated to bus traffic only between Newport Road and Churchill Way while closures are in effect, in order to maintain reliable public transport links for concert-goers and locals alike. Penarth Road will also be temporarily closed for up to an hour after the concerts conclude to safely accommodate the surge of passengers heading to and from the nearby Cardiff Central rail station.
The civic centre will operate under restricted access on both event days, only permitting entry for parkers attending the event, limited commuter vehicles, those loading goods and individuals accessing private car parks. Impacted civic roads include King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road, and Gorsedd Gardens Road.
For those travelling from further afield, Cardiff Council is strongly advising the use of the Park and Ride facility at Vindico Arena, located in the Sports Village, to sidestep anticipated congestion on the M4 and arterial roads. Travellers are also encouraged to use public transport whenever possible, consult the Traffic Wales website for the latest updates, and pay close attention to Plymouth Stadium’s policies on prohibited items, notably the restrictions on large bags.
Demand for tickets remains high for what will be one of the most notable live music events in Wales this year. Although some tickets are still available via verified resale on platforms such as Ticketmaster and Twickets, fans are urged to exercise caution when purchasing from unofficial resale sites due to the risk of invalid or voided tickets.
As Cardiff eagerly awaits this exceptional weekend of live music, city officials and event organisers stress the importance of early planning, respect for travel restrictions, and awareness of the policies in place for attendees. Those attending are reminded to allow additional time for journeys and to check the latest information online before setting off.
