Tragedy struck in Glasgow after a harrowing flat fire on Hughenden Lane, claiming the lives of a man and a woman. Emergency services responded swiftly to the blaze reported around 10:15 PM on Monday, as nine fire appliances and extensive medical teams were deployed to the four-storey building.

Firefighters bravely evacuated all properties, rescuing several residents from danger. Despite their efforts, two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, and five others required hospital treatment for smoke inhalation. The Scottish Ambulance Service efficiently transported the injured to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary, with one patient treated and released on-site.

Fire service area commander Andy Kenna shared the heartfelt condolences from the team, expressing support for the affected families and community. The crews worked tirelessly, battling flames and securing the area until nearly 5 PM the following day, preventing further devastation.

Police have confirmed the fire is not being treated as suspicious, bringing some reassurance to those in the neighbourhood affected by the tragic event.
