Tragedy struck the Emerge Festival in South Belfast as a teenage girl sadly lost her life after becoming ill during the event. Despite being rushed to hospital, the young girl, in her late teens, couldn’t be saved. In the same festival, a woman in her 30s remains in a serious but stable condition. Meanwhile, a teenage boy also fell ill but, fortunately, is on the road to recovery after receiving treatment.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) commented on the sudden loss and ongoing enquiries into the incidents. While the festival was meant to be a celebration of music and community, the heartbreaking loss has left many attendees and organisers in shock.
