Tragedy struck as the wife of former cricket star Duncan Pauline, 46-year-old Wiyada, has passed away unexpectedly during a routine shopping trip in Surrey. Pauline, who is deeply mourned by the loss, shared his devastation after his wife died suddenly at a Waitrose in Esher. Emergency services responded to a “concern for safety” in the store around 6pm but, despite their efforts, Wiyada was pronounced dead at the scene.
Duncan, a former all-rounder cricketer, expressed how he was expecting a minor incident when he first got the call, not the heartbreaking news that awaited him. He lovingly remembered their dreams of retiring together in Thailand, a dream she, tragically, will not see come to fruition. The couple had been planning to move back to Wiyada’s homeland for a peaceful retirement, having even purchased a home there in anticipation.
The incident prompted a significant emergency services presence, with the high street and supermarket temporarily closed. A Waitrose spokesperson conveyed their condolences and confirmed that the staff acted swiftly and offered their support during the incident.
