**Linda Nolan’s Family Faces More Heartbreak as Stepson Lloyd Dies of Cancer**
The Nolan family has been struck by tragedy once again, as it has been confirmed that Linda Nolan’s stepson, Lloyd Hudson, has died following a battle with cancer. This devastating news arrives barely four months after the renowned singer herself passed away after her own protracted fight with the disease.
Close to the family, friends have spoken of the special bond Linda and Lloyd shared throughout their parallel struggles with illness. Their relationship was marked by solidarity as they supported one another through the darkest of times. One family friend shared, “They were fighting side by side. After finishing her treatment, Linda would check on Lloyd, and they’d share stories and encouragement. It provided both a sense of hope and togetherness.”
Lloyd Hudson, the son of Linda’s late husband Brian Hudson, was first diagnosed with throat cancer in September 2023. His prognosis was bleak from the outset, with surgery ruled out as an option by doctors, and radiotherapy being the only possible course of action. At the same time as Lloyd’s illness unfolded, Linda herself was undergoing immunotherapy in an effort to manage her breast cancer, which had tragically spread to her brain.
The Nolan family is no stranger to cancer, with a string of diagnoses affecting its members over the years. Most recently, Linda’s brother Brian Nolan revealed to the public that he too is facing a cancer diagnosis, making him the fifth sibling in the family to be touched by the disease. Brian, who is 69 years old, was diagnosed with prostate cancer just days after attending Linda’s funeral, and voiced his heartbreak, saying, “I just want cancer to leave us alone.”
The losses keep coming for the Nolans. It was back in 2007 that Lloyd’s father, Brian Hudson, himself lost his battle with cancer, leaving the extended family even more familiar with the cruel reach of the illness. Reflecting on her family’s ongoing ordeal, Linda lamented last year, “My stepson Lloyd has just been diagnosed and it’s like ‘go away, leave us alone.’” Her words convey the deep frustration and fatigue experienced by families facing repeated, relentless battles with illness.
Throughout the years, cancer has taken an appalling toll on the Nolans. Linda’s sister Bernie died of breast cancer in 2013, aged just 52. Another of Linda’s sisters, Anne, endured her second round of breast cancer in 2020 but has since been declared cancer-free. The burden extends yet further; TV personality and “Loose Women” panellist Coleen Nolan, another of Linda’s sisters, disclosed in 2023 that she had received a skin cancer diagnosis and had undergone treatment using a chemotherapy cream to eradicate it.
Linda Nolan’s own journey with cancer began back in 2005, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time. She managed to overcome the disease, but faced a recurrence in 2017, setting the stage for her final, courageous struggle. Her resilience and transparency about her health challenges made her a figure of inspiration for many, while her openness about her experiences with both the ups and downs of cancer care resonated with families across the UK and beyond.
The tragic loss of Lloyd has deepened the sorrow already felt keenly by those close to the Nolans. Yet, despite the ongoing adversity, the family has spoken in the past of the importance of hope, togetherness and positive thinking.
As the Nolan family endures yet another painful chapter in their ongoing narrative, the support and sympathy of the public continue to provide a measure of solace. Their experiences highlight the indiscriminate nature of cancer, and echo the sentiment that more must be done to support those fighting the disease around the world.
