Imagine being all set to fly home, only to be told you can’t board! That’s exactly what happened to Dan Bowes from County Durham. But on his way back, Jet2 refused boarding, citing incomplete paperwork.

Dan was left scrambling to secure the necessary medical forms. Despite his frantic efforts, including 18 calls and a run to the local hospital, the essential form had an error. As a result, Dan found himself out on the doorstep of Dalaman Airport at midnight, without accommodation or any guidance.

After shelling out £400 for a last-minute hotel and other necessities, he was finally cleared for the next Jet2 flight home the following night. Yet, the ordeal was far from over. Dan had to revisit doctors and obtain a new Fit to Fly certificate, though he was assured initially that this wouldn’t be necessary.

Dan describes the experience as financially draining and mentally exhausting, citing the lack of clear communication and support from Jet2. He’s still awaiting a full ingredient list of the onboard meals, crucial for diagnosing his triggers.

Despite following all instructions rigorously and being cleared multiple times, Dan emphasizes how Jet2’s conflicting advice and procedural errors heavily impacted his trip. It’s a stark reminder of how crucial it is for airlines to uphold a consistent duty of care and clear communication with passengers.

In their statement, Jet2 reiterated that health and safety are their top priorities and expressed relief that Dan was able to travel back safely the next day after the correct procedures were followed.
