🌱🌟 I’ve been UPF-free for two years and my life has transformed! Here are four major changes I’ve noticed:

1. **Shredding Weight**: Dropped from 11.5 stone to 10 stone without starving myself. I simply said goodbye to ultra-processed foods (UPFs) and embraced real, wholesome foods!

2. **Discovering Delightful Flavours**: I’ve ventured into the world of new and exciting flavours. Chickpeas, kale, butter beans, and dark chocolate are now regulars on my shopping list. Who knew healthy could taste this good?

3. **Exercise is Easier**: My fitness levels have skyrocketed even though I haven’t increased how often I work out. I’m breaking personal records and feeling fitter, all thanks to clean eating.
4. **Awareness of Food Content**: Becoming aware of what goes into our foods has been eye-opening. Those seemingly innocent granolas and yoghurts were hiding lots of added sugars and unfamiliar ingredients. Reading labels became my new superpower!
But what exactly is ultra-processed food? 🤔 Think packaged breads, flavoured yoghurts, and most cereals — those items with ingredients you wouldn’t find in your kitchen at home. If it’s wrapped in plastic and packed with long, mysterious ingredients, it’s probably UPF.
Here’s how I made the change: Loaded up on legumes and nuts, skipped processed meats like sausages and bacon, and embraced guidance from nutritional experts. Plus, I always aim for variety with at least 30 different plants a week to keep my gut microbiome happy and healthy!
Remember, you don’t have to be as restrictive as I am. Enjoying the occasional treat is okay. It’s all about making more informed choices day-by-day. Being aware of food marketing strategies also empowers me to make healthier decisions.
